Gab Okulaja, the Special Adviser, Department of Public Transport, DOPT to Cross River governor, Ben Ayade, has directed the immediate evacuation of vehicles parked in hazard points in various roads and clearing of illegal parks in Calabar.

Okulaja gave this directive this morning while inspecting parks along major routes in Calabar south local government area.

The inspection took officials of the agency by surprise as some were caught napping on duty and were not in their assigned posts.

Parks and routes visited include areas close to Etim Edem park, Bedwell, Harcourt, Victor Akan and several others.

Some officials of the agency who at first were apprehensive of this reporter trailing them stopped him and upon learning his identity declined to comment further on their boss unscheduled inspection tour.

However, one who craved anonymity said it will take more than just a directive to ensure the evacuation of illegal parks as operators often return a few days after closure.
