Edim Edim, a Youth Leader in 8 Miles, Cross River State is currently cooling in police net for alleged assault of one Mr. Kenneth Okachi and murder of late Mr. Godspower Udo Effiong.
Edim who is been accused alongside, Edet Omin Edim, Savior Bassey, Udo (a.k.a sister meh) and Etekamba Omin Edim are all currently on the run even as they are wanted for assault and murder of Godspower Udo Effiong.
The family of the deceased narrates the story of how the incident happened thus; “On the 15th day of January, 2016 at about 8:30pm, armed thugs numbering over five, attacked Mr. Godspower Udo Effiong while he was at a friend’s home (one Mr. Kenneth Okachi of 8 Mile, Opposite Jogoldie Factory, Calabar).
“The armed thugs brutally assaulted and battered Godspower and his friend, Kenneth with all manner of dangerous weapons.”
In the course of the vicious brutality and dastardly attack on Mr. Godspower Udo Effiong, Mr. Kenneth Okachi successfully escaped into safety through a window, after he had been given a deep machete cut on his head.”
Continuing that, “While he was still receiving medical treatment, Mr. Kenneth Okachi got a phone call from Effiong wife informing him that his friend (Godspower) was missing.”
After some frantic moments, it was discovered that Mr. Godspower had been murdered after pictures of his lifeless body with blood stains all over began to spread on Facebook.
Mr. Kenneth Okachi (God’spower’s friend) however identified the alleged armed thugs to include Edim Edim (Youth Leader of the Community), Edet Omin Edim, Savior Bassey, Udo (a.k.a sister meh) and Etekamba Omin Edim.
The investigation and arrest of the suspect was occasioned by a petition from the legal counsel to the family of the deceased to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6 Calabar with reference number BRC/CAL/AIG/VOL.8/013/2016, dated February 12, 2016 through their legal counsel, Basic Right Counsel and made available to CrossRiverWatch.
