Cross River Assembly Speaker, Chief Judge To Become IHRC General Assembly Members/Extraordinary Congress Delegates

The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Geneva is set to induct the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo as its General Assembly member and Extra-ordinary Congress Delegate, Africa region.

According to IHRC, the event which is scheduled to hold in Calabar Thursday, June 23, 2016, would accord official recognition to Cross River State with respect to IHRC activities in the country and continent.

Information made available by the IHRC showed that the Chief Judge of Cross River State, Hon. Justice Ikpi Okoi Itam would also be installed as IHRC General Assembly Member and Extra-ordinary Congress Delegate while the Cross River State IHRC Steering Committee would be chaired by Hon Cletus Obun upon inauguration.

The International Human Rights Commission also indicated that the inductees would form part of the IHRC Steering Committee for Cross River whose duty would be to carry out administrative functions for the National Committee of the IHRC.

Similarly, Hon John Gaul Lebo has been appointed Secretary of the Grass Root Legislative Summit scheduled to hold in Abuja from April 25 to 26, 2016.

According to the National Association of State Assembly Legislators (NASAL), the organizers of the summit, the Cross River Assembly Speaker was chosen as the scribe of the summit because of his commitment to good governance and ample capacity to show leadership.

The Summit will have in attendance all 36 Houses of Assembly Members and some key administrative staff of their respective Houses of Assembly.
