The immediate past Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Ntufam John Okon says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will discover the truth at the end of its investigation on him.

Okon, as reported by CrossRiverWatch was arrested Thursday in Calabar at the state secretariat of the PDP, while the local government congresses of the party were ongoing, by officials of the EFCC for allegedly collecting 500 million Naira of the 23Billion allegedly distributed by former Petroleum Minister to electoral officials to compromise results of the last general elections.

In, a telephone interview with CrossRiverWatch, Okon who has been released on bail said “I do not have any story to tell, I am the Chairman of the party. I am under PDP.

“You know to me, EFCC has a right to investigate and I have made my statement and I believe that as an arm of government, the EFCC will find out the truth.

Asked when he left the EFCC custody he simply replied, “After I was bailed”.

As at press time, the spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren could not be reached for further comments on the allegations against Okon as four calls to his phone on Tuesday did not connect with the operator saying “The number you have dialled is currently switched off or out of coverage, please try again later”.

The case was the same, Wednesday as three calls to his line between 11:59 and 12 noon also did not connect.
