Three female priests were attacked, stabbed and dispossessed of their money and other valuables last Monday on their way to morning worship in Calabar.

The priests, aged between 20 and 25, are members of the ‘144,000 Virgins Body’ of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, BCS led by Olumba Olumba Obu.

The incident occurred in the neighbourhood of Mbukpa/Ambo as they left their ‘Virgins abode’ for 5am devotion at the BCS World headquarters at 34 Ambo Street CrossRiverWatch gathered.

One was stabbed by armed robbers when she screamed for help, a resident of Itam Street, Michael Effiong, said.

Residents in the area have incessantly suffered daily violent attacks by robbers and night marauders, according to reports.

Police PRO John Eluu said they had directed the DPO of Mbukpa Police Division to increase surveillance of the area.
