Coalition Of Civil Society Groups Charge Governor Ayade To Reinstate Effiong Mbukpa As King Of Efuts

Coalition of civil society groups in Nigeria has called on the Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade to publish the report of the administrative panel of inquiry into the tussle for succession to the throne of Muri Munene of the Efut Nation and King of Calabar South set up by the Senator Liyel Imoke administration.

The group made the request through a letter to the Governor dated 14 April, 2016. They also appeal that “as an advocate of rule of law, the judgment of the High Court and the Appeal Court should be respected to the later, by recognizing His Royal Majesty, Muri Munene Effiong Okokon Mbukpa Eta Odionka (VII), as the legitimate Paramount Ruler of Calabar South and open his palace locked by the past administration.”

As contained in the letter made available to CrossRiverWatch, the civil society organizations (CSOs) demanded that, “all his rights and privileges as the Muri Munene of the Efut Nation and King of Calabar South be restored. The impostor to the office of the Muri Munene be arrested by the law enforcement agencies and prosecuted.”

They concluded by pleading that Governor Ayade should urgently consider their plea stating that justice delayed is justice denied.

The letter was signed by Comrade Iso Bassey, National Chairman of the group, Comrade Jezhi Musa, National Secretary, Comrade Neoyi Ofem Cross River State Chairman and Barrister Femi Falana (SAN) National Legal Adviser to the CSOs.
