The Ikom Township stadium perimeter and that of the neighboring Special Education Center, built by State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been washed away by flash flooding.
The flooding which was occasioned by the heavy down pour that day (15th June, 2016) according to an eyewitness reporter on the ground, was able to pull down about a hundred fit of the stadium fence essentially due to lack of drainage.
Directly opposite the endangered fence of the stadium is that of the SUBEB Special Education Center which was eventually pulled down as well because they both couldn’t hold back the surging water.
As at the time of filing this report, repair work was already on going at the affected areas.
