More details have emerged from the horrific kidnapping of expatriates by criminals in Calabar yesterday.
Contrary to what the State Police PRO told our reporter which was also quoted in an earlier report by CrossRiverWatch, five people were kidnapped while one was shot dead by the hoodlums.
The hoodlums who were said to number up to 30 were also said to be heavily armed and battle ready prompting the security personnel attached to the expatriates to scamper for safety.
The expatriate contractors according to our source were driving in a convoy of 4 vehicles with the kidnapped persons in one of the two SUVs in the convoy along with two Hilux vehicles. One of the drivers was shot dead immediately.
One of the expatriates who was still in shock and was prevented from talking to our reporter was said to have taken cover under one of the vehicles which prevented the kidnappers from seeing him.
One of the drivers, a Nigerian and another fellow Nigerian as well as three foreigners were abducted and taken away by the hoodlums in a boat that was waiting for them by a nearby beach.
