Chief Tony Undiandeye, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Affairs, Tuesday night escaped death by the whiskers after having a scuffle with an armed robber who invaded his bedroom in his Obudu home.

Undiandeye, a former caretaker Chairman of Obudu Local Government who has been home coordinating some of the activities that marked the governor’s tour of the northern senatorial district told CrossRiverWatch that the robbers must have thought that he had money at home having just finished with the bevy of activities that marked the governor’s visit.

He said the robbers arrived his home at some minutes past 1am and while others waited outside, one of the robbers broke the burglary to his bedroom and gained access into the room prompting him to wake up in the middle of the night and engaging the lone gunman in a physical scuffle.

He added that while the scuffle ensued, the gunman fired his weapon but was unable to aim at him and he managed to escape from the bedroom into another room from where he called the police who arrived within 20minutes but the robbers had escaped.

The DPO of Obudu Police Division, DSP Obeten could not be reached immediately for comments but the police investigating officer told this reporter that the police were on the trail of the robbers.
