The 2017/2018 legal year was on Monday declared open in Cross River State by the acting chief judge, Justice Michael Edem.
Justice Edem led staff in the judiciary to the sanctified Mount Zion church in Calabar for a thanksgiving service where he said that the notion that judges deliver judgment without the fear of God was a lie.
He said that Judges always had the fear of God in their mind while writing judgments because they had to deliver justice knowing that God is also going to judge them.
The Governor, Senator Ben Ayade in his remarks commended the decision of the acting Chief Judge to go first to God.
He said that only God could guide leaders as it as God that brought him before the congregation at that church despite all the challenges he face after being sworn in as governor.
Justice later inspected a guard of honor mounted by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force at the state high court complex in the judiciary headquarters in Calabar.
