Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade will on Friday, next week be awarded the “2017 Distinguished Merit Award” at this year’s edition of the Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF).
This is due to his “patriotic contribution,” “giant strides recorded in the Creation of the Homeland Security outfit in Cross River State,” as well as “sterling leadership role in security,” a letter sighted by CrossRiverWatch and addressed to Mr. Ayade read.
It was signed by the Festival Director, Mr. Fidelis Duker and stated that the award “is the highest honour of the Abuja International Film Festival.”
The festival is billed to start tomorrow (Monday) October 9, 2017 and will run till October 13, 2017 at the Silverbird Cinemas in Abuja with Mr. Ayade’s award billed for the last day.
The theme for this year’s edition which is the 14th is: “Film As A Tool For National Security And Patriotism.”
And, Mr. Ayade will present a paper on the theme of the festival as well as participate in other areas of the festival.
Also, there will be a production and screening of a mini documentary on “achievements and successes in the area of Security and other developmental projects” of Mr. Ayade the letter read.
The Film Festival which is Nigeria’s Premiere and longest running film festival with participation from over 50 countries around the world has organized “an incredible 1501 meetings between senior decision makers in the creative sectors,” the letter read.
Over 3,000 film makers in the continent and abroad have participated in the past 13 editions.
The AIFF is organized by FAD Productions who are also the owners of FAD FM Calabar.
