The management of the University of Calabar on Tuesday sacked the Protocol Officer of the Institution, Mr. Godwin Nyiam for gross misconduct.
This was contained in a letter dated October 10, 2017 and signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Moses Abang which said Mr. Nyiam has until Friday, October 13, 2017 to hand over Mr. Ekopimo Maurice Umoh “who has been directed to take over,” from him as Protocol Officer.
The letter titled; “Disengagement From Office” and sighted by CrossRiverWatch read: “I have the directives of the Vice Chancellor to write and relieve you of your appointment as Protocol Officer of the University of Calabar.
“This development arose as a result of irreconcilable differences and gross insubordination demonstrated in the course of your official duties.”
Mr. Nyiam was detained by Nigeria’s secret Police; the DSS for allegedly conniving with a ‘False Prophet’ to kidnap the wife and daughter of the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Zana Akpagu.
Professor Akpagu confirmed the development to CrossRiverWatch in a telephone conversation.
