What Cross Riverians Are Saying About Ayade’s Budget Of Kinetic Crystallization

By Jonathan Ugbal

Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade on Thursday presented a budget of NGN1.3 trillion tagged “Budget of Kinetic Crystallization.”

The figure and name of the budget has sent the social media sphere agog with comments and CrossRiverWatch monitored some on Facebook and Twitter which are listed below.

Legor Idagbo, a federal legislator wrote: “My take on Gov Ayade’s budget “The Audacity of Hope” we should not be hasty to criticize it until the end of 2018 fiscal year. For now let’s keep fingers crossed and pray for if he is able to implement it, it’s for the good of our state.”

“This is rather a brazen display of crass ignorance, extreme naivety and morbid imbecility in the act of governance. As an economist with a good understanding of public finance, I can say Ayade’s budgets from inception have always defied all known parameters and logic of budgeting. Governor Benedict Ayade is terribly unconscionable,” wrote Missang Oyama on Facebook.

First Baba Isa, a legal practitioner wrote: “My Cross River State… 2016: Budget of Deep Vision
2017: Budget of Infinite Transposition
2018: Budget of Kinetic Crystallization
2019: ???
I wish grammar answereth all things.”

For Tom Alims, he said that there are many questions to ask.

He wrote: “From N301 Billion in 2017 to N1.3 trillion in 2017? How did we get there? Meanwhile there was a N707 Billion already approved for 3 years (2017, 2018, 2019). Is the government no longer working with that?”

Ray Ugba Murphy, who contested for the position of the Senator representing Cross River North in the last general election said the budget was a tissue of lies.

“Ayade Magic Budget of false money just to get national attention. But we know it is utter fakery! N1.3tr budget of childish lies!” He wrote.

Princewill Odidi wrote: “We have instigated a national kinetic crystallized laughter on our quest to get it right. It is better to lower expectations and over perform, than raise the bar too high into trillions and under perform. While I sympathize with the government of CRS because it is my state, it is just a clear indication that the current government just don’t get it.

“I think the budget figures are hyped just to use it and show capacity to lenders as a means of securing loans. But to be frank, these lending process does not work this way. I feel bad reading national headlines on our perceived misstep in our dear state. It is as though the state does not have intellectuals who understand how these things work. I think the government should consult wider and save us this embarrassment. While the government has the constitutional power to present whatever Budget as working documents, at least it should be done within reasonable limits.”

“A Budget of Kinetic Crystallization? Cross River State, why?” Queried Ifere Paul.

Iwara Iwara, a journalist simply wrote: “The comedy of errors is back. Budget of Kinetic Crystallization … Grab a copy now!”

And, Pamela Braide wrote: “So Cross River State’s N1.3 trillion 2018 budget of Kinetic Crystallization trended on twitter. Nigerians are wicked. enough hate speech. They dragged my digital governor to the moon and back. dem wan drag me sef.”

And on Twitter, the issue trended for a while. Here are a few tweets.
