The Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River on job placement, Mr. Jesse Esu on Saturday decamped to the All Progressives Congress in his native Agwagune/Okurike ward of Biase local government area.
Agwagune is the political ward of Mr. Ayade’s deputy, Professor Ivara Esu who is also Mr. Jesse’s uncle.
Mr. Jesse resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where he has been a member since 1999 and in a letter addressed to the ward chairman, said that his resignation was with “immediate effect.”
“They were nineteen (19) interesting amazing years. But due to personal reasons I now feel the time has come to move on,” the letter read.
He left with thousands of supporters CrossRiverWatch gathered.
Political watchers say this may not be unconnected with his plan to replace third term House of Representatives man, Daniel Asuquo in 2019.
He is said to have settled to fancy his chances in the APC when it became obvious that the PDP may rather give the ticket to either Mr. Emil Inyang or let Mr. Asuquo continue.
He had served as a close aide to former Governor Liyel Imoke for long and it is said that Mr. Imoke and Professor Esu had given him the nod.
Mr. Esu’s resignation from the PDP also comes a few days after he resigned from his position as the Special Adviser to Mr. Ayade on job placement.
In the letter dated February 14, 2017, Mr. Esu commended Ayade for appointing him to serve the state and pledged that he will work for the good of the state.
