BREAKING: Obubra Women Protest Neglect Over Osopong/Izzi War, Lock Down Council

Women in Obubra local government area of central Cross River State are currently protesting what they term as neglect following the continuous invasion of their villages especially in Osopong communities by neighboring Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State.

The women who stormed the local government secretariat in their numbers have chased out staff of the council after attempts by the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Barry Inyang to negotiate failed.

“The HOLGA had said 10 out of the women should come inside and express their plight but the women said no and the council is on lock down as staff are all outside,” an eyewitness told CrossRiverWatch.

Ofenokom and Ijutum as well as some parts of Idoru communities in Osopong have come under fire of recent with several suffering gun wounds while CrossRiverWatch has not been independently able to verify the number of those alleged to have been killed.

Meanwhile, the women say they will proceed to the market and collect levies and tax to fund the purchase of basic survival items to send to their people in Osopong.
