The Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana has disclosed to CrossRiverWatch, his reason for traditionally accepting the apology of the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla.
The monarch said he was bound to accept the apologies as a father.
“Obla visited me today to apologise, I told you before,” he told CrossRiverWatch on phone.
He continued: “I received him as a son. When you have sons, you will have good ones and the bad ones. Remember the prodigal son in the bible. He came and apologise to the throne.”
Mr. Obono-Obla is being fingered as the person behind the monarch’s arrest by men of the Nigerian Police after his nephew was gunned down by suspected gangstars in Ugep.
Following a botched arrest by men from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Police command in Calabar later confirmed the monarch’s arrest.
He had written Governor Ben Ayade and alleged the monarch was complicit in the gang wars.
His council of chiefs is said to have sat and declared that Mr. Obono-Obla apologizes to the throne which he had sworn not to do.
