The crisis brewing in Cross River State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC over the authentic Governorship candidate of the party has taken a new dimension as Abuja High Court on Monday granted an order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from recognizing Senator John Owan Enoh as the candidate of the party.
The order granted by Justice Valentine B. Ashi also directed the INEC to only recognize the claimant, Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, Honourable Minister of Niger Delta, as the authentic candidate.
Recall that two factions of the party conducted parallel governorship primaries in the state last month and produced two governorship candidates, Owan Enoh and Usani Uguru.
While the National leadership of the party declared Owan Enoh as the authentic candidate, Usani on the other hand rejected the position and approached the court to set aside the contentious Congress that produced Owan Enoh.
The court has now issued an interim order favouring Usani pending the hearing and determination of the matter.
The case was adjourned to today, Wednesday 17 October for further hearing.
