Justice Simon Amobeda who presides over court 2 of the Calabar division of the federal high court will tomorrow (Monday) hear for the first time, a case instituted against Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state by constitutional lawyer, First Baba Isa over the creation of aviation, foreign affairs and solid minerals ministries.
Isa had in January filed the suit after Mr. Ayade announced the largest cabinet in the history of the state which included ministries Isa said were the exclusive preserve of the federal government.
And, despite a rejoinder by the aviation commissioner, Jake Otu Enyia days later, feelers suggests that the attorney general of the state, Tanko Ashang will appear in court for the matter.
A statement by issued on Sunday by Mr. Isa’s team said the counter affidavit and preliminary objection filed for Ayade and the other defendants were signed by Mr. Ashang.
It also indicated that “journalists, rights activist and good governance advocates“ have indicated interest in the matter especially as the presiding judge has been in the news recently over the trial of journalist, Agba Jalingo which saw the Judge recuse himself from the matter twice in 60 days.
