LG Election: APC Slams CROSIEC, Says It Won’t Participate

By Patrick Obia

The All Progressive Congress (APC), Cross River chapter has slammed Cross River State Independence Electoral Commission, CROSIEC on the new date, May 30, 2020 for the conduct of Local Government election in the State saying the party will not go to the polls describing it as “ridiculous.”

This was contained in a press release signed by the party’s State Chairman, Sir John Ochala. The party stated that the processes leading to the conduct of the election have been met with gross irregularities and deliberate subversion of basic constitutional requirements guiding conduct of the election.

The release further noted that, CROSIEC giving two to three days notice in conduct of election of such magnitude is irresponsible pointing out that, APC Cross River State is in Court with CROSIEC and Cross River State Government seeking to compel the State electoral body to adhere strictly to the dictates of the Constitution/Acts of the National Assembly and CROSIEC Bye laws.

Mr. John Ochala, called on APC candidates vying for different positions, faithfuls and supporters to remain calm and go about their normal businesses without any hindrances as the party will continue to seek redress in Court until justice is prevailed.
