Teenager Brings Pistol To Class, Attempts To Kill Teacher As Akpabuyo, Bakassi Youths Protest Total Blackout

A teenager (name withheld) has been taken into custody for allegedly attempting to kill her class teacher. The 18 years old student of Government Secondary School, Ikot Ewa Akpabuyo LGA, Cross River State brought a locally made pistol to school to carryout the clandestine act.

According to Charles Edem, “This girl went to school at Government Secondary School Ikot Ewa with a gun to shoot her teacher for telling her to cut her colored hair.” The averted tragedy occurred Wednesday.

In a related development, youths in Akpabuyo and Bakassi LGAs protested total blackout for over a year.

The peaceful protest was organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in both LGAs. They barricaded the head office of Port Harcourt Electricity Distributing Company, PHEDC, Calabar road for hours registering their anger.

They demanded for the immediate sack of Mr. Maurice Ibok, Head of Commercial, says he is incompetent. The peaceful protest took place Wednesday which caused traffic gridlock for a long time until the Police Commissioner, Kayode Sikiru Akande appealed to them for calm.
