Cross River Governor, Benedict Ayade has suspended the Chairman of the State’s Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Akpanke Ogar.
Also suspended is one of his numerous Special Assistants on Media, Ursula Agbor.
These were contained in separate statements issued by his spokesman, Christian Ita on Wednesday which also disclosed that the State’s Auditor General, John Odey will “immediately take over as the acting chairman” of the revenue board.
It is unclear why Mr. Ayade took this decision as the Governor has been aversed to making public, suspensions and sack of his aides.
But, IRS sources say it did not come as a shock even though some wonder why Mr. Odey who has had running battles with workers is the one to replace him.
As at press time, the reason for Miss Agbor’s suspension was also unclear.
