There has been an explosion at the Eburutu barracks of the Nigerian Army in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
It is unclear what actually exploded but it is said to have shaken buildings nearby with the window panes and ceilings of houses in the golf view estate shattered.
The explosions began yesterday and have been happening intermittently with the most recent occuring at about 2:30PM this afternoon, a resident told this newspaper.
Confirming this, a journalist working nearby told this Newspaper that she and her colleagues ran out of their office for safety.
