Support groups have rolled out drums in support for 2023 governorship aspirant in Cross River State, Sir. Arthur Jarvis Archibong.
The groups in a mega rally in Calabar said they pitch their tent with Mr. Jarvis as a trusted entrepreneur whom Cross Riverians should bang their hopes on, stressing he is the Messiah to lift Cross River from bondage.
Mr. Jarvis is the founder of the first private University in the State, the Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo.
And, different groups including people living with disability, participated in the rally, pledging their support for Mr. Jarvis whom they said “receives, wine and dines with them even when not expected.”
“With him, we know very well that we are going to cross the Red Sea, Cross River State is going to be out of this bondage; we are totally in bondage,” State Chairman, Persons Living with Disability, Livinus Okpa inferred.
Okpa, represented by Calabar South chapter Chairman, Mr. Ekpeyong Essien, noted that Mr. Archibong has always been there for them whenever they reach out to him.
He said, “We are drumming our support to the man we know is capable, the man we know is able to do, the man we cannot find wanting, he is always accessible; one that if you call him he will answer your call, if you text him he will reply your text, go on WhatsApp he would follow up with you, that is man we want to support.”
He continued, “he is the only man who came up to identify with people living with disability in the state; he is like Jesus Christ of our days because he dines and wines with the lepers and all manner of people living with disability, he is the man who came with the western ideas to change things in the state and take us to another level.”
The Director General of Fresh Air 2023, Engr. Edwin Bassey said the organization stands for good governance and aims to ensure the leadership recruitment process for the State leads to the selection of a credible person.
“We are here to register our support for Arthur Jarvis Archibong. The state has gone down in terms of infrastructural development and tourism. We need somebody who has leadership quality, we need somebody with private sector knowledge, we need an investor and business minded person that will know how to create wealth in the hands of people thereby lifting the state away from where it is at the moment,” Bassey said.
The convener of the rally, Mr. Andy Mba-Ukweni urged Cross Riverians to reject all forms of political malpractices and idolatrous promotion of self agenda as public interest.
Ukweni, who serves as the Director General of ‘The Future,’ a political pressure group, averred that; “A peaceful Cross River is a collective interest of every well-meaning Cross Riverians, and we must protect that at all cost.” Also, he commended Mr. Jarvis for stepping forward to declare his interest to Cross Riverians.
