Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission Commence Local Government Election Activities

The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC, has announced that it will conduct local government polls by May next year.

The Commission made this known in a notice with reference number CROSIEC/2023/LGB/007 and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Mike Ushie.

The notice reads in part: “In compliance with the provisions of section 28(1) of the 2022 Electoral Act as amended, which allow 360 days for the issuance of notice of election that marks the commencement, preparation, conduct, and conclusion of electoral activities, the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission issues notice of election for the 2023 Local Government Councils election in the State.

“Accordingly, all electoral activities commence today to culminate Wednesday, 24th May 2023 as the date for the Local Government Councils election in the State.

“All political parties and other stakeholders are requested to note and comply accordingly towards the successful free, fair and credible Local Government Councils election in the State.”
