CrossRiverWatch has exclusively obtained an audio conversation between Hon. Patrick Uguge and his ward (name withheld) after he allegedly raped her.
The incident occurred in mid-April 2023 in Ogoja. Hon. Uguge was arrested by the Police a few days ago following a complaint by the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, BRCI.
In the audio of less than 4 minutes, she complained of pains and fear of being pregnant, he comforted her.
She said, “I’m feeling pains, down there, it’s still paining me.” He replied, “Normal pain relief will do, there is nothing there.”
When asked if she should see a doctor and get drugs he advised that “No no no, you don’t take drugs for these things, you don’t, you understand, its normal thing.”
“What if I’m pregnant,” she replied and he said “No no no, nothing entered oh, I couldn’t have done that. Nothing entered abeg, you understand? There was no form of release anywhere… If I did that I would have told you what to do.”
For the pain “just go to any pharmacy and buy alabukun powder, they will mix it for you to take, tell them you are having headache or pain,” he said.
