The Rivers State Government on Saturday conferred honors on 194 individuals including the Senator representing Cross River North district in the National Assembly, Jarigbe Agom.
While Senator Agom was among 160 individuals conferred with the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State, (DSSRS) medal, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and his counterpart in Imo, Hope Uzodinma were conferred with the Grand Service Star of Rivers State, (GSSRS) medal.
The medals, presented by Governor Nyedom Wike at the Banquet hall of the PortHarcourt Government House are in line with the “Rivers State Honors Law, 2017,” a letter, dated May 23, 2023 and addressed to Senator Agom read.
“This award recognizes your achievements, service, contributions to national development and support for the Government and people of Rivers State,” it further stated.
Senator Agom was accompanied to the awards ceremony by Mr. John George the Founder of the political pressure group, Reclaim Cross River.
Others conferred with the GSSRS medal include Senator Godswil Akpabio and the Governor-elect in Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
15 individuals including some security details and drivers in the Governor’s convoy were conferred with the Governor’s Medal of Service, GMS while five primary school teachers and six others were conferred with The Rivers State Medals Award, RSMA.
