The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, has lauded the Brotherhood of the Cross and Stars (BCS) for their support to the State and charged other religious organizations to propagate the gospel of Christ.
He gave the charge in Calabar during a courtesy call by a seven-man delegation from BSC led by Christ Shepherd, Senator B. W. Degi at the Governor’s Conference Room on Thursday.
Governor Otu said the religious organization has attracted visitors to the State from all over the globe through its programs.
“Brotherhood has contributed to the growth of Cross River State immensely. As a government, we appreciate its contribution to education, spiritual empowerment, and tourism potential.
“We have tourists across the globe who visit Calabar at regular intervals for pilgrimage and spiritual satisfaction and these have continued to boost our name internationally.
“I believe that any society that does not have spiritual diversity will have no direction.
“As you continue to evangelize, I believe our people will continue to change for good.”
He assured Leader Olumba Olumba Obu of his administration’s commitment to continue to partner with him even as he appealed for prayers for the State, nation, and the world.
Following the request made by the team which centered on land claims, Otu disclosed that he will not jump on it immediately to avoid mistakes and assured that he will correct those justice that were denied.
The team lead of the organization, Senator Biobarakuma Deji, appealed for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Akpet-Ugbem-Etono road, for easy access to local and foreign tourists from Biakpan Holy City in Biase Local Government Area.
He solicited support for the 36 hectares proposed mega city in Adiabo, Odukpani LGA project and disclosed that it is aimed at boosting the spiritual and economic values of the State and its inhabitants.
The event was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar among others.
