The Government of Cross River State has reiterated  its orders of refuse disposal from 6pm to 10 pm daily.

A press release signed and issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barrister Akiba Ekpenyong also banned the activities of scavengers stating it poses security threats.

The government said enforcement agents will be stationed at strategic refuse points to apprehend and prosecute defaulters.

It further warned scavengers to stay away from refuse and dump sites as security agents have been mandated to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.

“This is to reiterate the State Government’s earlier announcement on regulations guiding refuse disposal within the Calabar metropolis. For the avoidance of doubt, the hours of 6pm to 10pm every day are slated for refuse disposal.

“Please note that enforcement agents will be stationed at strategic refuse points to apprehend and prosecute defaulters.

“Similarly, the government has put a total ban on all refuse scavengers, as their activities pose serious security concerns for citizens.

“Those responsible are to desist forthwith as security agents have been mandated to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.”
