The committee in charge of payment of gratuities has advised retirees that it has not scheduled any verification exercise for recipients of gratuities in the first tranche.
This was conveyed in a press release signed by Orok Bassey Okon, Permanent Secretary/Committee Secretary dated 12th August, 2024.
The Committee said that it has not mandated any person, office or group to collect any data or documentation from retirees and warned retirees not to pay money to anyone or organizations.
The Committee disclosed that the ongoing in-house review and revalidation will be concluded during the current week and by next week, it shall publish an itinerary for the physical verification of retirees captured for payment.
“The Committee on Gratuities Payments wishes to advise retirees that it has not at this time, scheduled any verification exercise for would-be recipients of gratuities in this first tranche. At the moment, in order to ensure accuracy and integrity of computations, the Committee is carrying on further confirmation of figures as availed by the Pensions Offices.
“The ongoing in- house review and revalidation will be concluded during the current week. Next week, the Committee shall publish an itinerary for the physical verification of retirees captured for payment. The physical verification exercise will hold in each of the 18 LGAs.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Committee reiterates that it has not mandated any person, office or group to collect any data or documentation from retirees. Therefore, retirees are strongly advised not to pay any money to any persons or organizations purporting to be in furtherance of gratuity payments,” the release read.
