Residents Seek Proper Drainage To Avert Flooding, Mosquito Bites

Residents of Ita Okang Street in Big Qua, have raised concerns over lack of proper drainage systems in their neighborhood, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure to combat recurring flooding and mosquito bites.

They said that during heavy rainfalls, the overflow of water from constructed drainage causes blockage and sometimes finds its way into their houses.

They called for urgent intervention to prevent preventable flood damage.

The community expressed fears for the emerging floods amid NiMet predictions of flash flooding in some states across the country, and on the heels of the devastating flood that has rocked Borno State.

Similarly, they have also prayed the state government to install street lights in the community. They said lack of street lights have led to petty crimes and other vices.

In the same vein, they have also called for a replacement of the removed road bumps in some roads in the community. They argued that the bumps prevented some accidents and Its removal poses risk to commuters and pedestrians.
