The Cross River State Police Command, has brokered peace between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Ikot-Inyang Community, Odukpani Local Government Area of the state, following a crash on December 3, 2024.
The Commissioner of Police CP Gyogon Grimah upon the incident intervened, directing the Area and Tactical Commanders to restore peace and normalcy.
The Command noted that a series of peace meetings its facilitated brought together key stakeholders, including Clan/Village Heads- Chief Etubum Essien, Chief Pastor Essien Inang and Chief Austin Eyamba, Esq., Ward Councilors of Hon. Bassey Bassey
and Herdsmen representatives of Alhaji Bakari Sambo (Chairman) Alhaji Tukor Amadi Ali while Alhaji Gambo Abdul as Youth Leader of Nasarawa and Musa Abdullahi.
The collaborative dialogue and mediation efforts according to the press release signed and made available by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Irene Ugbo, said the mediation has yielded positive results, and normalcy restored to the community.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Augustine Grimah, enjoins bloggers and social media influencers to refrain from spreading unverified information capable of inciting tension, misleading the public, and undermining the integrity of the Police Force.
The release assured that the Police Command remains committed to upholding justice, safeguarding lives and property, and ensuring peace in all communities in line with constitutional provisions.
Members of the public are encouraged to rely only on official statements from the Police Command for accurate and verified updates.
