The Cross River State Police Command has reaffirmed the indefinite suspension of social-cultural group – Nkot Mbok masquerade organization, following an indefinite suspension placed on them to display masquerades by the state government.
Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, said it is important to adhere strictly to the order amid reports of planned activities by the event’s organizers.
There was an alleged report that, despite the government’s clear directive urging organizers to obtain permit, organizers reportedly intend to proceed with the display; an act that is said to breach public safety.
The Police Command in a press release issued in Calabar by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo, gave a stern warning against the defiance move, stating that it is unlawful and will not be tolerated.
CP Grimah reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order within the state, warning that any individuals or groups found violating the suspension will face legal repercussions.
He urged all parties involved, including the event organizers, to comply with the directives to avoid potential legal action.
The Police Command called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station as the command is fully prepared to take necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Command with the designated numbers for emergency or violations among others on 07041777060 and 07053355414.
