The Cross River State Police Command has commenced the enforcement of third-party vehicle insurance policy across all 18 local government areas of the e state.

In a press release issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, states that the enforcement took effect from February 1, 2025, in a directive from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

In the release, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Grimah, emphasized the importance of obtaining genuine third-party insurance from licensed insurance providers authorized by the National Insurance Commission.

He noted that the policy is crucial for facilitating the safety of innocent third-parties in the event of an accident, ensuring financial recovery for damages, injuries, or loss of life.

The CP urged vehicle owners without insurance to secure it promptly to avoid potential legal repercussions.

The Commissioner also warned officers involved in the enforcement process to uphold professionalism and avoid any form of rights abuse or extortion, stressing that any officer found violating the standards would face severe disciplinary actions.
