The Member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives, Honorable Peter Akpanke has resigned from his party – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.

He made his resignation known in a letter he signed and addressed to the Chairman of Bendi Ward 1, in Obanliku LGA, stating he has thrown the towel against the party with immediate effect.

He said the decision is borne out of the incontrovertible reality that the party, due to persistent internal leadership crisis, has descended into a state of discord and fragmentation.

Akpanke expressed that the once cohesive and visionary platform of PDP has lost the ideological clarity and unity that initially attracted him.

The one-term House member noted that, the resultant ideological deviation and lack of internal harmony have rendered PDP unable to fulfill its founding commitment to the realization of a truly progressive geopolitical entity, which Nigeria desperately needs.

Peter thanked the party for the opportunity the PDP provided him as a platform for expressing his political aspirations and serving his constituents. “I wish the party and its members well in their future endeavors,” he wished.
