How We Have Represented Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Connect Villages – Cross River Lawmaker

By Godwin Ajom

Honorable Victor Abang representing the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives, has commenced a constituency-wide briefing tour to give account of his representation.

Notable achievements include building of classroom blocks, mini stadium, empowerments, and notably the reconnection of about 35 communities to the telecommunication network, amongst others.

Data from the Constituency indicates that not fewer than 35 communities in Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in Cross River Central who were shut out from the global internet and Nigeria telecom and information system have been reconnected.

While 25 of the communities are verified by CrossRiverwatch, ten of the other communities aren’t yet verified, but constituents and stakeholders in the Constituency say the other ten communities are verifiably reconnected.

The achievements for the communities were captured during the constituency briefing by the honourable member at different locations in the constituency where he stated that welfare, needs and concerns of his constituents are sacrosanct.

Some of the communities including Njua-Kaku, Kakubok Irruan, Borum-Nkim-Osokom, Agba-Osokom, Ebok Boje, Buachor, Latabang, Kanyang and: Others are; Bamba, Ubong, Bakim, Beebo, Bajoki-Bumaji, Abo-Bonabe, Orimekpang, Mdimechang, Opu, Abonima, Nyarankpor, Akoronofonor, Okosora, Okokoma, Nnam, and Etikpe, amongst others.

He enumerated the various tasks he has undertaken for his people: “we are back to report progress as promised during campaigns. In making laws we’ve attracted one or two projects to our constituency.

Hon. Abang assured that “any projects not done would be done before 31 March, 2026. There’s no ward in Boki and Ikom, all 22 wards that don’t have a presence.

“Promises are difficult when you get to office, because of the realities. We have facilitated network availability in several of our communities, and also prevented the ceding of Nigeria land in Boki axis to Cameron, through the National Assembly.”

He recalled that “1,000 constituents were placed on unconditional cash transfers, some of you got the money. The more you keep your representative in office, the likelihood that you will get more benefits.

“I gave each chapter Chairman 1 SUV each and one motorcycle each to ward Chairmen. We empowered 1,300 women in Boki ward and trained several of our girls on hygiene management.”

Beneficiaries meanwhile, lauded the Hon. Victor’s representation and charged him to do as another election year beckons.
