The member representing Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Peter Akpanke on Monday commenced a project commissioning tour in Kubong Bette Community where he stated that education remains a focal point in his representation.
Staff, students, community members and political associates gathered at the Community Secondary School in Kubong Bette, Obudu Local Government Area for the frst project, a three-classroom block with a staff room, a restroom, standard desks and modern writing blocks, which he said is in fulfilment to a promise made months ago.
“You will recall that some months ago, during my visit to the community, I was deeply concerned by the condition of the old school building, which was not conducive for effective learning. I immediately made a promise to the community to provide a three-classroom block and today, that promise has been fulfilled,” he said.
The federal lawmaker added; “I strongly believe that this project will go a long way in improving the standard of learning for students of Community Secondary School, Kubung Bette. In addition, I awarded a one-term scholarship to sixteen students of the school who warmly welcomed me with their beautiful songs.” The scholarship includes the provision of footwear and writing materials.
In January, while doling out millions and sharing foodstuffs to his constituents in celebration of the yuletide, Mr. Akpanke had said he will fix a date in February for the commissioning of projects he has facilitated as a lawmaker.


Commending the job done by the lawmaker, the Principal of the school, Mr. Boniface Ambor who spoke on behalf of the school and community expressed gratitude for his commitment to education, while hailing the quality of job done, and the speed with which it was delivered.
Dignitaries present at the event included Hon. Bonny Eraye, former Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Ken Aklah, Special Adviser on Aviation to the Governor of Cross River State, the Chapter Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Obudu Mr. AlphaUblibli, Mr Sunny Undiaye Undebe , Dr Aniashie Akpanke, Mr Emmanuel Ishiekwen, the Supervisor for Education in Obudu among others.
