The member representing Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Victor Abang, has formally declared his intention to seek a second term in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), positioning continuity and experience as central to his re-election bid.

Addressing party members and constituents, Abang framed his declaration as a continuation of what he described as a “social contract” with the people, stating that his first tenure has been focused on laying a solid legislative and developmental foundation for the constituency.

He outlined a series of legislative efforts, including the sponsorship of bills aimed at establishing key federal institutions such as a Federal College of Agriculture (Forestry) in Okundi, a Federal College of Education (Technical) in Ikom, and a Federal Medical Center in Boki.

He also referenced proposed amendments to the Labour Act and the National Park Service Act, alongside the Elite Sheriff Corps Bill.

Beyond lawmaking, the lawmaker highlighted motions raised on issues affecting the constituency, including Nigeria-Cameroon boundary concerns, infrastructure development, and security challenges.

He said these interventions were targeted at drawing federal attention to local priorities and facilitating government action.

Abang pointed to constituency-level projects executed across the 22 wards, covering sectors such as rural electrification, water supply, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

According to him, these efforts were complemented by support initiatives for farmers and community-based empowerment programs.

Making a case for re-election, he argued that legislative effectiveness improves with experience and seniority, noting that replacing a first-term lawmaker with another newcomer could slow progress rather than accelerate it.

While acknowledging fiscal constraints at the national level that have affected the pace of some projects, particularly within the 2025 budget cycle, he assured constituents of continued advocacy to secure improved funding and project delivery.

Abang also aligned his political vision with the broader leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, commending their roles in driving national and state development.

He appealed for renewed support, pledging to consolidate on existing gains and expand development opportunities for Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency if given another mandate.
