Cross River CP, 12 Others Promoted To AIG, 93 Senior Officers Elevated

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 93 senior police officers to higher ranks following their successful performance in the recently concluded written examination and oral interview conducted at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

The promotions were among the key decisions reached during the Commission’s plenary meeting held on Wednesday at its headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the promotions include the elevation of 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to Commissioners of Police, 28 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to Deputy Commissioners of Police, and 33 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police.

According to SaharaReporters, the Commission also approved the confirmation of appointment of 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II) to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I (ASP I).

The newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General of Police are Itam Nnaghe Obono (Counter Terrorism Unit), Bassey Samuel Ewah (Plateau State), Osagie John Agans-Irabor (FCID Lagos), Monday Agbonika (Edo State), Iyamah Daniel Adebor (Bayelsa State), Isa Danladi Nda (Abia State), Akaninyene Ezima (NPF-NCCC), Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu (Anambra State), Afegbua B. Rashid (Cross River State), Edozie Hycenth Azuka (AML/CFT, FCID), Haruna Alaba Yahaya (Jigawa State), Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent (Benue State), and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin (Welfare).

The 17 newly promoted Commissioners of Police include Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle A. Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Oki Rita Oyintare, Ibrahim Umar Zungura, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nuruddeen A. Sabo, Tijjani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Ahmed, Adedeji Taiwo, and Zainab A. Pembi.

Among the 28 Assistant Commissioners elevated to Deputy Commissioners are Ofili Felix, Mohammed Baba-Mala, Deborah O. Benary, Mohammed Sani Musa, Lot Garba Lantoh, Ijeoma Princewill Onyema, Oyedepo Olubisi, Amanyi Christopher, and Regina Mbanefo, among others.

Similarly, 33 Chief Superintendents were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, including Mustapha Lawal, Gafar Ajayi Adeyanju, and Nnamdi Lotanna Anabike, among others.

PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

While addressing the officers, Argungu advised them to remain truthful and transparent in carrying out their responsibilities.

The PSC chairman also cautioned them against becoming involved in civil disputes, particularly land-related matters, and reminded them that their conduct in service would shape their lives after retirement.

“Guide your reputation and integrity. Let your actions speak for you and not against you,” he said.
