Reports reaching CrossRiverWatch indicate that three former aides of ex governor Liyel Imoke are being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged diversion of public funds.

The aides, former Chief of Staff Alex Egbona, Deputy Chief of Staff who also later became Chief of Staff, Jude Ngaji who is also currently the State Security Adviser, SSA to incumbent governor Ben Ayade and Bassey Okim who was also a former State Security Adviser under Imoke, have been interrogated by operatives of the EFCC for their alleged roles in some projects by the Imoke administration.

CrossRiverWatch gathered this morning again that the trio were invited by the anti graft agency yesterday after they were fingered in a petition by Human Rights Lawyer and APC Chieftain, Barrister Obono obla accusing the immediate past administration of misappropriation of funds in the construction of the Calabar Monorail project, the Institute of Technology and Management in Ugep and the purchase of an aircraft from the River State government by Imoke.

Following preliminary interrogations and collection of their statements yesterday, Alex Egbona and Jude Ngaji were asked to go while Bassey Okim arrived the Commission’s office this morning to give his own statement about his role in the projects.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren told CrossRiverWatch the investigation are ongoing and the commission is still getting information from strategic persons who worked in that administration and will not hesitate to invite the former governor when the need arise.

It will be recalled that CrossRiverWatch yesterday reported that the former Chief of Ctaff Alex Egbona was picked up by officials of the EFCC with his followers corroborating the story.

CrossRiverWatch also spoke with the State Security Adviser, Jude Ngaji after he left the EFCC and he said: “Yes, you remember I served as deputy chief of staff and later chief of staff to Governor Imoke and I was invited to explain my role in that capacity at that time and I have done that and immediately I finished that, I was asked to go. I don’t think there is anything to worry about. It is natural to always be called to account for your stewardship after you leave office anytime the need arise. One thing I am sure is that, no misappropriation took place and the EFCC will find that out in the course of their investigation.”

‘one thing I am sure is that no misapropriation took place’ I am good to hear that.
