British Council Urged To Establish Creative Art Center In Calabar

Members of Calabar Creative Hub (CCH) have urged the British Council to among other things establish a Creative Art Center in State to help discover and nurture creative art talents.

The call was made during a one day interactive session in Calabar where the group said the creative arts sector of Cross River has not been fully exploited and harnessed.

The one day interactive session was necessitated by a research currently conducted by the council to ascertain the strength and weaknesses of the sector for onward intervention.

Speaking during the session, Sousan Ashraf Mansour British Council Regional Research Manager/Cultural Skills Unit expressed gratitude to the hub members for their contribution towards the success research.

She went on to encourage members of the hub to remain steadfast assuring that there are lots of opportunities to come.

On his part, the Calabar Creative Hub Chairman, Emmanuel Etim lauded the British Council for their effort assuring that his members will stay committed to the course.

Other requests include creating a close mentorship and creative art entrepreneurship education program for the State, facilitate orientation, publicity, networking and marketing opportunities for those in the sector.

Also, the hub solicited that the creative arts content in the teaching curriculum in the country should be updated and institutional internship program should be facilitated for those studying creative arts related courses.
