CALABAR KILLER COPS: Court To Adopt State Prosecution Counsel Report On Thursday 21st September, 2017

The Cross River State High Court sitting in Calabar, Mary Slessor road, court room four under the Lordship of Justice Ogbojo Ogar will once again convene on Thursday 21st September, 2017 to adopt the address prepared by the State Prosecution Council on the case of extra judicial killing of late Derek Maurice Ben and five others by a team of dismissed 14 Police Officers with the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on April 17th, 2014.

This is coming after the court concluded cross examination of both the accused and the defendants in the case which commenced on the 21st November, 2014 where the accused refused appearing in court.

It would be recalled that CrossRiverWatch investigation concluded on the 4th July, 2014 revealed how the late Derek Maurice Ben and five others were extra judicially killed while in detention on 17th April, 2014.

Also CrossRiverWatch further investigation revealed how their corpses were sold for eleven thousand naira each to the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Anatomy department by the 14 dismissed Policemen.

The 14 accused include three senior Officers dismissed after appearing before the Police Service Commission that sat in Abuja, the trio include: DSP Horsfall Ntinefruo, ASP Etim Anoke and ASP Raphael Ewah.

The 11 junior Officers who were dismissed after facing the Police orderly room trial are: Insp. Erienekpa Fireman, Sgt. Anyin Gregory, Sgt. Lawrence Egbe, Cpl. Okay Onyama, Sgt. Anthony Idoko, Cpl. Unyime Jumbo, Cpl. Edidiong Jeremiah, Insp. Gershom Isotuk, Sgt. Okili Akpokabowei, Cpl. Afam Michael, and Cpl. Patrick Kokei.

After adopting the State Prosecution Counsel report, the court will then take a date for judgement.
