The DSS Officer In charge of Obudu division simply identified as Prince, was attacked at about 10pm yesterday Friday while returning home from work by yet to be identified hoodlums.
A service operative who spoke to CrossRiverWatch said, “ the divisional head does not live at the office quarters any longer as the building is dilapidated. So he rented an apartment along Fire Service where himself and most of his staff reside.
“This incident happened so fast, as he was with one of his officers at about 9:30 pm in the office, on leaving back to their rented apartment his junior officer forgot something and went back inside to pick it. While he sat underneath the mango tree in front of their office pressing his phone. Someone came from a dark corner and hit him with a short pestle; one that looks like the handle of a short axe on his head. When he discovered the officer was down, he picked up his phone and ran away. The officer who was with him tried to chase the thief but he disappeared into thin air.”
CrossRiverWatch gathered that the DSS divisional head is receiving treatment right now in an undisclosed hospital in Obudu.
At the time of filling this report, efforts to reach the Police for information on whether the suspect has been arrested, have not been successful.
Meanwhile CrossRiverWatch just gathered that there are sounds of gun shots around Anderson street in Obudu right now as a war has broken out between members of two rival criminal gangs.
The cause of the fracas is not yet clear but a government official just told CrossRiverWatch that both the Police and the Army have been mobilized to the scene.
CrossRiverWatch is monitoring the situation and will bring you details.
