Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), yesterday was thrown into mourning when another 400 level student of Civil Engineering, Joseph Agbor, was knocked down through accident.
The incident which took place within the university campus, Calabar, was said that, the deceased sat by the water pavement in front of his department after his first lecture and was hit down by his fellow colleague of 200 levels in the same department who lost control of the car.
According to one of the Security personnel in the department who pleaded anonymity, said: “Yesterday, a student brought his father’s or his grandfather’s car to school, his friend came and collected the car key from him to drive, I don’t know , somehow he lost control and the car in that speed turned and approached the student sitting by gutter fingering his phone, but before he could realize it the car hit him high which he went up and landed on coal tar road and hit his head. He was rushed to the school medical center and later transferred to Asikpo Hospital where he gave up the ghost.” He narrated.
Confirming the sad incident to CrossRiverWatch, the Chief Matron, Intensive Center of the School Clinic Mrs. Joy O. Hundeyin said “They brought him here; the magnitude of the injury was beyond our control. He was bleeding from ears, mouth and nose. So we referred them to General Hospital where they will be able to handle the situation. They have more doctors, more equipment and more facilities there.” She also lamented over the poor management of the school clinic.
This is coming less than a week CrossRiverWatch reported that a final year student of Business Education Department, Williams Ikpi Ebri, was reportedly to be shot death at Ijiman, Ugep by armed men.
However, at the time of filling this report, the two students involved have been arrested and taken to Mbukpa police station as there has being total tranquility in Engineering department.
