The newly elected Speaker of the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Eteng Williams, has said that they will not make laws that will give no bite to Cross Riverians.
The three times house member stated this on Hit 95.9FM regular Sunday program, “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” where the Yakurr son assured that every law will have an effect on average Cross Riverian on the street.
“For us, we are partners in Government. We are going to ensure that basic and supportive legislatures are done and put in place for Cross River State to move to the next level. We are looking at industrialization, what are the things to make effective; is it to go into privatization, what are the things that will protect average Cross Riverians? We are not just here to make laws that will not give any bite; any effect to average Cross Riverian that is on the street. For us it is effective legislation that will and emphasize more on oversight.
“We cannot have industries in every local government, after this administration they go down. We are going to Look at those things critically and ensure that after 2023 these things work.” The speaker ended .
Hon. Eteng Jonas Williams was elected as the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly on Tuesday, June 11th 2019, replacing the out gone Speaker, Hon. John Gaul Lebo.
