Mr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren, Secretary of the Guild of Editors is the keynote speaker.
The Journalists Safety Summit aims to address the critical issue of protecting press freedom and ensuring the safety of journalists in Nigeria.
According to the Press Attack Tracker, a distressing 610 attacks on journalists in Nigeria have been documented since 1985, and it is believed that many more cases go unreported.
Relatively, the CJID Media Freedom project is currently in the early stages of creating an intriguing documentary titled “Safe4press: Shining A Light On The Dark Side of Journalism and Press Freedom Violations.”
The goal of this documentary is to highlight the impact of violations of journalists’ right to safety and security for journalists and their families, as well as the media’s accountability role and democratic advancement.
