A sign post along Airport, Atimbo of Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State, has collapsed and caused damage to a Toyota Corolla car.
The incident which happened in the prime hours of Sunday, September 15, 2024, saw the driver of the car escape unharmed.
Eyewitnesses said that the billboard post, which appeared rusting, suddenly gave way and fell onto the road, striking the Corolla in motion. The driver, who craved anonymity, was full of praise to God.
The cause of the collapse is still unknown, but authorities suspect that the billboard’s structural integrity may have been compromised.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of billboard posts and outdoor advertising structures in the city.
At the time of this report, the damaged vehicle has been towed away, and the area has been cleared. Motorists are, however, advised to exercise caution when driving near outdoor advertising structures.
