Calabar is set to host connoisseurs of smooth jazz, funky R ‘n’ B and sweet soul music as guests and residents in the city look forward to three nights of fabulous headline performances by D’Angelo and Eric Benét Jordan (US), Jonathan Butler (SA), Asa, Darey, Bez and Burna Boy (Nigeria).

The group will be performing at the first Calabar International Jazz Festival from March 29th to 31st.

In a statement obtained by crossriverwatch, this year’s jazz festival is the starting point of the calabar festival annual events.

“It is a direct result of the success of the jazz concerts held during the Calabar Festival. It is also designed to provide the ideal Easter weekend getaway and is expected to become a permanent feature in the social calendar.”

Alex Okosi, Senior VP and Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks Africa who spoke on behalf of broadcast partners MTV Base, said “the Calabar International Jazz Festival has brought together an awesome line up of stars for its inaugural outing and we look forward to partnering with the festival to spread the word about this exciting music event on MTV Base.”

The statement said there will be fun day-time activities and tours for all the family, fabulous VIP after-parties as well as opportunity to sample local delicacies which have made calabar the most best acclaimed kitchen in the country.

The fiesta will begin the first day with performances by Jonathan Butler, D’Angelo, Darey and Bez.

Day 2 will feature Eric Benet, Asa and Burna Boy while Bez, Darey and Burna Boy will perform on day three.
Performances will hold at the Cultural Centre Complex and the Millennium Park.
