A Pastor with the Lord Chosen Charismatic Church, Pastor Vincent Eban was on Sunday bitten to death by a snake soon after he finished Sunday service.
The incident which happened in Kakwagom, in Boki Local Government Area in Central Cross River State, an eye witness, Edward Akan a member of the church said occurred while the pastor was about to leave the church at the end of the service.
The eye witness reports that Pastor Vincent was on his way to his house at Panyia, after delivering a church service at Kakwagom.
“After the church service Pastor Vincent wanted to leave for his residence and as soon as he mounted his motorcycle, the snake came out from the side cover of his motorcycle and bit him on his laps close to his private part”.
Edward told CrossRiverWatch that as soon as the pastor was bitten by the snake, he shouted for help and as some members of the church rushed to help him, the snake disappeared.
“He was first rushed to the Kakwagom health center for treatment, and was later taken to a traditional healer but as soon as he got to the traditional medicine man, Pastor Vincent died’’, he said.
Another member of his church, Mrs Theresa Binang, said that the snake that bit Pastor Vincent was sent “spiritually” to attack him.
She described Pastor Vincent as a man who lived a fulfilled life, thereby asking God to grant his soul eternal rest.
Others members of the community who also spoke on his death lamented the sudden demise of Pastor Vincent, saying that the attack of the snake was spiritual.
The deceased has since been deposited at Joedy Memorial Mortuary at Okundi village.
Eban who until his death was also a teacher at Excellence Secondary school at Okundi village, hails from Panyia, a neighboring village of Kakwagom, all in Boki local government area of Cross River State.
