The Abi Local Government Council has been commended for effectively implementing the Primary Health Care mandate of the state within its ten council wards.

The commendation was given recently by the State Representative of the United Nation Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Mrs Uduak Okon during the flag off of the Maternal New Born and Child Health Week (MNCHW) at Itigidi the Abi Council Headquarters.

While appreciating the commitment shown by the Chairman of Council Hon Edith Amadi towards ensuring that the mandate of the PHC was achieved across the Local Government Area, Mrs Okon described Hon Amadi as a mother with enormous passion for the health care of Abi mothers and children particularly the Pregnant and Nursing mothers and the infants.

Mrs Okon who observed that Abi was taking the lead in the implementation of the Primary Health Care mandate across the state scored the council high as she also expressed satisfaction that the Chairman of council was very committed to this cause.

The UNICEF Representative further thanked the Primary Health Care Department of Abi headed by Mr Samuel Egbe for living up to expectation and for the admirable performance so far even as she urged the team not to lose steam while assuring that UNICEF will always support Primary Health Care in Cross River.
