The constituency empowerment program of the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency in the House of Representatives and 2015 Northern Cross River senatorial aspirant, Hon. Rose Oko, took place yesterday, Saturday October 18, 2014 at the St. Bernard Primary and Secondary school in Yala LGA.

5 Peugeot cars, 12 tricyles, 50 grinding machines, 50 cassava processing machines, 25 soup ingredients grinding machines, 30 motor cycles and 100,000 Naira cash for 30 persons were handed down to beneficiaries who expressed happiness at the gesture of the lawmaker.

The event had in attendance the Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Benedict Ayade, Speaker, CRSHA, Hon. Larry Odey, Mr. Legor Idagbo, Mr. Patrick Ugbe, Chief Akwase, Admiral Ogbor among others.

Governor Imoke lauded the lawmaker for remembering her people and described her as a leader with a difference and exceptionality adding that Yala people have not witnessed that kind of empowerment in the history of leadership in the area.

The Speaker of the House of Representative and other guests all took their turns to eulogize the lawmaker and prayed that God will give her further opportunity to do more for her people.

    I KNOW NO ONE WOULD DO IT BETTER THAN HER IN CROSS RIVER NORTH. SHE HAS ALWAYS BEING A SOURCE OF HOPE TO THE HOPELESS SO WHY NOT WE GIVE HER THE CHANCE TO GO FOR SENATE FOR US. AND HOW ABOUT THIS COMBINATION, BERNARD AYADE AS GOVERNOR, DR ROSE OKOJI OKO FOR SENATE,ALPHONSUS OGAR EBA FOR HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY YALA ONE CONSTITUENCY.

    There is the problem. Lawmakers are supposed to live on their salaries and allowances. The job of emancipation of the masses is supposed to be via government programs that are planned and implemented by government agencies. By paying the legislators outrageous salaries and allowances for them to buy votes through various so-called empowerment programs is wrong. Wake up Nigerians and Cross Riverians!
